Also posted was a build summary of a new brushless DR build using that receiver. Rather than replace the mosfets, signal was taken from the input to the mosfets' original location. Previously I posted a brushless conversion of a DR receiver with burnt mosfets (motor runs without throttle input). The brushless ESC uses modified BLHeli firmware to interpret the signal coming off of the Delta Ray receiver. I'm using 450 class motor because of the weight and the size close to the original master cp brushed motor. This DIY converter takes brushed motor output as input to a brushless ESC. I'm using turnigy 450 class 3800kv for the main motor + HK 50A brushless esc (with custom brush to brushless signal converter) and still use the brush tail motor, the main motor run smoothly, but the tail motor seems react unaccurately if the throttle rise up immidiately, i cannot try another setup for the tx because i'm still waiting for the parts after last big crash because of the inaccurate tail control. How is your tx setup for the brushed tail motor ? Try to re-program the tail motor brushless esc for the pole, maybe the tail motor will be more aggressive. I had make custom brush to brushless signal converter using atmega8 microcontroller for the main motor, but i'm still use brush motor for the tail, because it's not easy to place another brushless esc for the tail motor. One question, do you have a brush to brushless converter for the tail motor ? because if you don't use brush to brushless signal converter, the tail motor won't work correctly, because, i had measure the signal from the rx with my oscilloscope and the range pulse is 0 - 2ms, brushless esc need pulse 1ms - 2ms, so i won't work correctly if you connect it directly from the tail motor brushless esc to the rx, it needs a brush to brushless signal converter too, not just for the main motor, but for the brushless tail motor too. Others may have better luck than i and its even possible that i got a lemon. The tail never did act completely right in my opinion untill i went back to brushed. Like i stated earlier i had the thing flying great one day and than had my big crash a few days later. The brushless tail set up in my opinion requires way to much messing with radio settings to work correctly. I,m back to running the brushed tail on this heli and all is good.
